I'm back...

(...i like to use this as my venting place...)

I'm not sure exactly what it is i need to vent about...or how to put it into words exactly how I feel...Just all week I've felt like there's been something bothering me and weighing me down...i'm not sure what it is...or if I'm jsut sick of school and need a break or what...

I have that feeling...
-Where it's difficult to breathe
-i have that lump in the back of my throat
-my nose is tingly...ya know...like when you feel like crying.
-and all I want is a hug.

...it doesn't help when I dream of scenarios that I know won't happen like.."oh..maybe after his meeting he'll surprise me and stay here for the night..."

I'm so foolish.

I miss him so much when I'm not with him.

Ok. I'll stop being emo...i just needed a cry/vent.

Goodnight.

On a happy note.

I would just like to add a side note that I have the most wonderful boyfriend in the world. We just had our one year anniversary last Thursday. He surprised me Thursday afternoon with a dozen roses in hand. He also gave me a necklace with a goose on it...(because he calls me Goose)
<3
Yup. I'm in love.

Fact: I cry when I'm stressed.

And it's definitely that time of the semester where I'm officially stressed. Perhaps this is what they call senioritis? I am so over classes and the concept of school in general.

I can barely think of one thing that went right in my entire college career. Other than being in choir. I swear everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Just the fact of transferring schools, not knowing what I want to do with my life, not having my credits transfer, having to take classes that I've already taken, having transcripts sent to WRONG college (three times), financial aid issues, and having so many other little things just go wrong. Ugh. The only thing that went right was choir. If it weren't for choir and my fellow singers, I don't know what I would do.

And all I ever want is to listen to my boyfriend sing...

But like I said, nothing ever goes my way.
Story of my life..

Now, if you'll excuse me...

Fact #26: My heart aches...

So. I've never gone through a break up before, therefore I've never been heart broken. Maybe this is what a broken heart feels like. But mine's not exactly broken, it just aches and is incredibly sad. I am the luckiest girl in the entire universe. I am in love with the perfect guy, and he's in love with me. Only thing is, we are currently 200 miles apart. Now, once I get back to school, I'll only be just over 100 miles away from him. A little closer, but still apart. School will start next week, so we'll be busy with our classes. To top it off, he has two jobs, this year...something different from last year. So, who knows how often I'll get to see him. Maybe I was just too spoiled last year by getting to see him just about every weekend.

"Distance, it is a test of love, many will fail, but for those who can withstand it have the answer: true love."

I just have to be strong. I know I can be. I have been all summer. I just have to get past this little heart ache of mine and look forward to the next time I get to see Devon, whenever that is.

XOXO

Fact #25: Summer is coming to an end.

Where did this summer go? Is it just me or did this summer FLY by? I suppose working does that to you. For the first part of the summer I had a full time job working at the bank thirty miles away. It was a great gig, especially the fact that they also paid for my mileage. At the end of July I cut down to half time because I finally got into two of the summer classes I need to retake because some of my Morningside classes didn't transfer into USD. LAME! I have a week to complete two papers and three speeches. No big deal, right? What especially made the summer fast was counting down the days until I got to see Devon. I think I saw him a grand total of five times this summer. I get super sad to leave him, but that just begins a new countdown until I get to see him. To me, I feel like it makes time go fast. It sure made last semester fly by. Mom started school yesterday and John heads to school on Monday. And to top it all off, Calil left yesterday for Florida. I feel like I didn't see him at all this summer, even though he lived a room over.

I am, however, ready to get back to school. I miss my apartment. I miss choir. I miss my people. I miss being only an hour and a half away from Devon. Bring on senior year, yo!

Fact #24: You may say I'm a dreamer...

...and far too often I feel like I'm the only one.

I need to try and be realistic.

Fact #22: I can't wait for the weekend!

Just me.
And my boy.
All weekend!
It's going to be swell!

Fact #21: I love to kiss...

...Don't believe me? See for yourself! --> Kiss Me, Katie

Fact #20: I love getting mail...

Fact #19: I kinda sorta told it all today...

Fact #18: I love flowers.

They are like one of my most favorite things ever.
They are pretty, smell good, and have a lot of meaning when received.
One can never go wrong with flowers.
They can mean "Happy Birthday", "Happy Anniversary", "I'm sorry"...however, the ones that are the best are those given for no reason at all.
The ones that simply mean "I love you."
:)

(the above flowers are Stargazer Lilies...probably one of my favorite type of flowers)

June 20, 2010

Fact #17: It's Father's Day.

For as long as I can remember I have never been close to my father. Probably because I am so similar to my mother. The only thing my dad and I ever shared was our gifted voices, and the few times we were forced to sing together for the public. When I was young, he worked nights so he was never home. Eventually he divorced my mom and moved to a new town when I was about eleven. We were again, forced to visit him. And now, he barely ever contacts or visits us. In the past year he's only contacted me three times; one of those times was to inform me that he was moving to New York the next week. I often compare my relationship with my father to the song "Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin (which ironically, is one of his favorite songs/singers).

Today is Father's Day. It was sweet to see everyone's tweets and statuses about how wonderful their father is. I wish I could say the same about mine. I wish I had that "Daddy's Little Girl" bond with my father that so many girls out there have. I hope someday that whoever I marry will be the best father to my child. That's all I want.

On a positive note, I must say, though, that I am blessed to have a Ken as my step dad. He really is the closest thing I've ever had to a dad. While we have hit a bunch of bumps in the past, I'm so glad that he married my mom eight years ago. He has been one of my biggest supporters, and would do anything for me.

Happy Father's Day.

Fact #16: I am Puggy.

Pet names.

You know what I'm talking about.
The "Baby"
The "Honey"
The "Darling"
The "Sweetie"
Or even the"CuddleWuddleBear"

Never did I ever think I would end up with a pet name such as "Puggy"...Yup! You heard it people...Puggy! It's unique...just like me. And to be honest...I like it. Because this boy came up with it...and thought it fit me... (It's better than my most recent pet name...Goose...but what can ya do!? :)... )

Signing off for the night.
Puggy

Fact #15: I think too much.

Usually, nights are me time.
Just me and my thoughts.
Thoughts of people, memories, goals, prayers...

After a discussion with my stepfather the other day, the question that I have been pondering most is:
"What do people see in me?" / "How do people really see me?"

I'm weird.
I'm awkward.
I'm a clutz.
I'm not in shape.
I'm not one of the "pretty" girls.
I'm not fashionable.
I'm not cool.
I'm lazy.

...at least that's what people tell me.

It'd be nice to get a real compliment every once in a while.

May 5, 2010

Fact #14: I am officially a senior.

...and I can already feel the senioritis taking over.
I took my first final at 7:00 Monday evening and finished my last final at 6:45 Tuesday evening. Four tests in less than 24 hours. I am pretty much a beast.
Chances are I'll probably still be in college for three more semesters.
But...
I want to be done.
I want to move away from Iowa and South Dakota.
I want to start the next part of my life.
I'm so excited and anxious to see where it'll take me.
But alas, I must wait another year.

On the bright side...
HellooOOOooo summer. :)

Fact#13: I am a woman.

A friend of mine found this article on the Esquire website and so I decided to look through it...it has some pretty funny and true facts about women. Here are some of my favorites! You can read more funny, yet true facts about women here.

-*-*-*-

No. 107: When we point out something sweet we saw another guy do, we want you to do it for us, too. Obviously.

No. 79: We love to hear we are beautiful. Breaking it down into specifics is even better.

No. 75: Most women's version of the perfect man is some combination of James Bond, Prince Charming, and George Clooney. This, luckily for you, is a man who would terrify us in real life.

No. 643: Never hang up first.

No. 492: We don't expect you to read our minds. We expect you to ask.

No. 517: When we ask you how we look, we are really saying, "I am needy, please validate me. Please tell me I'm pretty. Please tell me you don't regret loving me."

No. 607: We are the same human being with makeup and without it.

No. 732: We'll take nice forearms over six-pack abs any day.

No. 524: That low-cut top — we wouldn't wear it if we didn't want you to look. Just be discrete about it.

Fact #12: I love smiling.

...smiling's my favorite.

I have so much to smile about!

Classes.
New phone.
My family.
My new Nicholas Sparks novel.
Maggie.
Devon.
The past six months. <3
...
Espeically, the past six months. Which brings me back to fact #8. I really am, the luckiest girl ever.

Fact #11: I love Blackberrys...

...but is there something better out there that I might like better?

Last year I convinced my family to switch our plan to Verizon because when I was college-ing it up in Sioux City, I had poor reception through Sprint (and not to mention, a super crappy phone). Upon the switch to Verizon I was granted the opportunity (or more so begged for the chance) to own my very own Blackberry. It was a love at first sight. And at the time, not many people had them. You were "cool" if you had a Blackberry. And, therefore, I was finally cool for once in my life!

Now a year later, everyone and their dog has a Blackberry. Don't get ms wrong, I still love it. I mean, I'm not the type of person to generally follow the flow of everyone else. I like to just do my own thing and do what I think is best for me. Anyway. I just found out that I am eligible for an upgrade on my phone. So most of today I've been looking on the Verizon site and reading and watching reviews on the different types of phones. Should I just keep my Blackberry? Or maybe upgrade to something I'm unfamiliar with that I might like better? Or maybe end up hating?

When I first started my search, the obvious phone to look at was the Droid. Of course, it's probably the best phone that Verizon provides. And it's new. And I know a few people that own them (including my boyfriend, Devon, who has owned both the Motorola Android and the Droid Eris)...and he enjoyed both. They are super nice and I would enjoy either of them, but they are quite pricey.

However, I stumbled upon the HTC Touch Pro2. It's similar to the Droid Eris. It has the touch screen (meh. I guess I could get used to it) and a slide out keypad (cha-ching!!). I discused this with Devon and he mentioned that it is a Windows OS. He said he's no fan, but I have never used it. I guess I'm not tech-saavy enough to understand the differences between all of them.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But to part with my Blackberry may be a sad day.

Fact #10: I'm in Love With a Geek.

According to Cosmo magazine geeks are the better kind of guy to date. Below are Cosmo's 7 reasons why geeks make better boyfriends. A few apply to me...Especially #3. :)

-----

1. He’s capable of memorizing every line of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings so he shouldn’t have trouble remembering your birthday and favorite kind of flowers.

2. Sure, he may secretly want to get it on with his super hot neighbor, but knowing that you’re the hottest girl he’s ever been with will probably keep him from cheating.

3. Geeks tend to be tech-savvy. Which means not only will he be able to fix a computer problem and upgrade your software, but he’ll actually enjoy doing it.

4. Although the dumb jock thing is a total cliche, you’re unlikely to meet a dorky guy who can’t string together a sentence and carry on an intelligent conversation.

5. Since he’s supersmart and probably already making a ton of money, he won’t think being a roadie for Vampire Weekend is a great “career opportunity.”

6. He was probably bullied during high school so he’ll be sympathetic when you vent about the office bitch...and help you plot a plan to bring her down.

7. He’ll never hog the bathroom while he’s manscaping.

Fact #9: I've been super busy...

…and I haven’t had my computer for about a week. I’ve felt lost, but no fear. We’ve reunited.

So, last Thursday night Devon and I went to Omaha to see John Mayer and Michael Franti & Spearhead in concert. It was an outstanding concert. I only knew one of Michael Franti’s songs, but Devon knew a lot of his music. He was so down to earth, running around the audience and bringing people up on stage to “play guitar”…it gave it a more intimate feeling. I loved that about him. John Mayer was also amazing. I could’ve listened to him all night if I had the chance. Plus I got to spend an evening with my wonderful boyfriend.

Then Saturday came and began what turned out to be a long, yet fun week with some talented singers and some of my best friends at the U. The Chamber Singers toured to Chicago making stops in Sioux City, Council Bluffs, Des Moines and Minneapolis throughout the week. I met some of the nicest people, played with some of the cutest dogs, made new friends and memories, and performed my most memorable performance inthe most beautiful venue I’ve ever seen.

While tour is an exhausting time with periodic times of drama (mostly with those diva-like sopranos), it really is a blast. I get to do what I love to do (travel and sing) with people some of my greatest friends. The only thing I would’ve changed is that I would’ve enjoyed Devon's company. He was in choir last semester, but he transferred, therefore leaving me and the choir behind.

Guess this means that we’ll have to make up for it some other time. Roadtrip, Devon?

March 2, 2010

Fact #8: I'm the luckiest girl ever.

Because I have the best boyfriend in the world.

Fact #7: I love concerts.

I love music. What I love more that music is to listen to live music. I've been to a few concerts in my life and this spring I have two more outstanding concerts to look forward to; one of them is only two days away.

John Mayer.

I have the best boyfriend in the world (Fact #8). This past Christmas he gave me tickets to see one of my favorite musicians live in concert. I've been waiting anxiously for three months, getting more excited each time I heard a song of his come on the radio. And if you don't listen to the radio, he's on there a lot. So, I'm pretty freakin' excited (and yes, that's an understatement).

A three month wait has quickly turned into a two day wait.

And only about another two and a half months until the Nickelback/Shinedown concert...but...who's counting?

February 24, 2010

Fact #6: I'm a sensitive person.

...and I always have been. Words can hurt a lot. I shouldn't take them seriously because what people say are their own opinions and may simply be their way of joking around. I've always taken what people say too seriously.

Maybe it was because I grew up with a disabled sister, and it hurt me more and more the older I got to see people make fun of her, or inform me on the playground that "I had a retarded sister." And even though that was when I was about six years old, it ended up hurting me so bad. That's my sister. She's a person, too. At six years old I didn't even know what that meant..."retarded"...I told my mom what the kids on the playground said and asked her what that meant. The next day the girl that said it probably didn't even realize what she said, but it's stuck with me for 15 years.

In middle school, I ended up avoiding the pool for an entire summer simply because a boy pointed out that one of my toes was longer than another one and "that meant I'm a lesbian."

These things are stupid, yes. And I shouldn't take them seriously, but I simply can't help it. It's just the type of person I am.

I'm sensitive.

I've gotten better and learned who to trust and not to; but there are times even now that words still hurt.
I promise to continue to try and not let people's words control me.

Fact #5: I feel like a kid again.

I can't fall asleep.
I'm not tired.
For some reason, I am reverting back to childhood.

As a child I sometimes would wake up in the middle of the night unable to fall back asleep. My solution? Go to the living room, drink a glass of orange juice and sit contently in the dark watching King Kong, a favorite of mine as a child.

Here I am, twenty years later...sitting in the dark living room, on my couch, drinking a glass of orange juice watching Johnny Weir figure skate.

Reminds me of being a kid again. I like it.
